TIMELINE
8 Weeks in Fall 2022

DailyClips.io is a viral content tool that allows users to tag, edit, and upload content to multiple social media sites at once.

As a freelance UX Designer, I redesigned the import modal and tag system to be more intuitive and user friendly for categorizing clips.

ORIGINAL TOOL ANALYSIS

After experimenting with the tool and conducting research with early adopter consumers on the DailyClips Discord, I identified pain points which complicate the user experience.

USER PAIN POINTS

- Difficult to tell what tags does
- New Tag button keeps moving
- “Categories” is difficult to understand
- New Category Add bar is difficult to identify
- Tags under categories difficult to understand
- Visual hierarchy not obvious enough for user
- Tags bar is disorganized.

ITERATION V.1
IMPROVING VISUAL HIERACHY

Drag-drop tags into category slots.
Create Categories within import modal.
Recommended Tags are based of category.
Create Tags within post modal.
Advanced Settings navigates to tag page.

ITERATION V.1
PROBLEMS IDENTIFIED

I presented my wireframes to front-end software engineers and early-access streamers on the DailyClips platform and received feedback regarding the organization and visual elements of the tag system.

- Remove Link Button for an import button
- Illustrate visually that Tags are interactable
- Greater distinction between categories & tags
- Allow users to make tags within categories

ITERATION V.2

PALLETE RE ADJUSTMENT

Based on feedback from my clients and the DailyClips Discord community, I adjusted my design to align with the platform's new color pallette that we developed for the landing page.

I also addressed a number of previous problems which improves the interactability and understanding for new users, while also streamlining the clip creating userflow.

ITERATION V.2

HIGHLIGHTED CATEGORIES

Instead of having a separate frame for Categories and Tags, I combined both in order to visually convey that they are interactable for the user.

Categories are now slightly longer with a highlighted color on the left to convey that tags can be placed within them.

ITERATION V.2

TAG CREATION

The drag drop functionality helps the user understand that tags can be placed under categories.

New tags can be created and dragged into either global or a specific category as well.

The advanced button navigates the user into the main tag page where they can modify and categorize outside the modal.

ITERATION V.2

RECOMMENDED TAGS

Recommended Tags are datasourced and curated based on categories added and frequently used.

The drag functionality allows users to easily drop in these tags to their specified category for organization and are saved globally to be used on any future or previous clips.

IMPROVED VISUAL DESIGN & ADDITIONAL FEATURES

KEY TAKEAWAYS

DailyClips.io is a startup viral content tool that allows users to tag, edit, and upload content to multiple social media sites at once. As a UX designer, I was a part of a highly talented multifunctional team who are all passionate about the social media and streaming industry.

In the end, I believe our success was due to passion, industry knowledge, and user-centered research. We hosted a positive Discord community to brainstorm and gain user-feedback, allowing us to gain user traction and leading to millions of views on social media such as TikTok.
